Series: Book 2 in the The Cellar series
Tags: Thriller
Summary
Emily Cranston has been kidnapped and chained to a tree in
the middle of a forest in Kentucky. In Oklahoma, a young preschool teacher is murdered in
front of her students. In the Panhandle of Florida, a college undergrad is
kidnapped from a nightclub. These seemingly unrelated crimes catch the eye of the
Cellar, the ultra-secret cell set up to police all other
government agencies. Cellar operatives Gant and Neeley, along
with profiler Susan Golden, must track down those
responsible. But these are not ordinary criminals. They are a
highly trained Special Forces sniper team wreaking revenge on
the families of the men who betrayed them. As the new Cellar head Hannah Masterson calls the shots
from up high, the Cellar operatives soon find themselves
being targeted. Whoever is behind this knows the ultra
top-secret Cellar's tactics all too well.
This book can be read on its own. Bodyguard of Lies
(Book 1) introduces the characters of Hannah and Neeley. This
book's plot shows them in action as part of the Cellar. The
Cellar also makes an appearance in several of my other
series, notably Nightstalkers and Time Patrol. It was
considered for option by George Clooney's production
company.
The concept for the Cellar came from my background in
Special Operations. The question was: who polices the world
of covert operations? Regular police are not trained or
capable of dealing with these highly trained and experienced
operators. Also, they can't be tried in a court of law,
because of all the classified information and missions
they've been on. Thus: the Cellar. I'm a New York Times bestselling author, a graduate of
West Point, former Infantry and Special Operations, and the
feeder of two yellow Labs, most famously Cool Gus. I've had
over seventy books published, including the #1 bestselling
series Time Patrol, Green Berets, Area 51, and Atlantis. Born
in the Bronx and having traveled the world (usually not the
tourist spots), I now live peacefully with my wife and Labs.
